WELCOME TO THE

DEEPCUT HASH HOUSE HARRIERS

We are privileged to have in our ranks, two of the hashers that brought hashing to the UK in 1969.

WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE DO?

Deepcut H3 is a non-serious running club (aka a smallish group of drinkers with a running problem) based upon the "Hash House Harriers"; a world wide group formed in Kuala Lumpur in 1938. We run in the countryside of North Hampshire and West Surrey. All runs take place on a Wednesday afternoon and are within the bounds of OS Map Sheet 186.  A typical turnout is about a dozen hashers on each trail although it has been as few as six and on one occasion over 40!!

Deepcut H3 first formed in the 1980s, but flagged a few years later. It was re-formed on 10th March 1998 and has been running every second Wednesday ever since. The members generally live within the area of Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire borders, and are of all ages and walks of life.

Based upon the old style Hare and Hounds, Hashing is a cross country run (or gambol if you prefer) of around 3 - 5 miles using a trail of flour set by one or two people beforehand, known as "Hares". The rest of the runners (!) then attempt to follow the trail trying to find their way home. This group or searchers are known as the "Hounds".

WHO’S IT FOR?

Young and old can take part, you run (or walk) at your own pace.  Families are very welcome to participate and it’s a great way to exercise a (reasonably) well-behaved dog.

We try to start and end trails at a pub to work up a thirst and have a friendly, sociable chat afterwards.  Pubs are also rated by the Hashers on the standard of their chips!

It's a fun activity, and not to be taken at all seriously.

SUBMIT A HASH

Haven't a clue how to lay a hash? No idea what these funny white things on the ground mean? See the Mismanagement and offer to help lay a hash immediately. Alternatively, read Mountain Rescue’s Hare Hints first, if you still can't get it right you may be sent on the three day course.

Remember the First Rule of Hashing - There are no rules.

WHEN/WHERE IS THE NEXT ONE?

We run every second Wednesday and Hashes always start at 3.00pm or pretty soon after depending on the Mismanagement!  For the location of the next Hash refer to the Run List.
